Dr Anne Peterson

MBBS, FRACGP, DRANZCOG

A GP with over 20 years general family medicine experience and also a Specialist Women’s Health GP, I love using my intellect and passion to help people lead balanced, healthy and authentic lives.

My medical passions include all aspects of women’s health but particularly menopause and hormonal issues. I have an interest in giving education talks to the local community particularly around menopause and other women’s health issues. I also have a diploma of adolescent health and welfare and used to work in two local youth health clinics. I work one day a week for Jean Hailes in East Melbourne and one day a fortnight at Epworth Geelong Women’s Health Clinic, which supports me in having the most up to date knowledge around menopause and women’s health issues. Other expert areas include medical termination of pregnancy, implanon insertion and family planning.

Every year, I attend the Australasian Menopause Society Annual Congress as well as multiple pregnancy and postnatal care workshops, the Annual Women’s and Children’s Health Update and other conferences that are relevant to my work especially up skilling in mental health care. I read widely via journals and on line health updates in menopause.

I studied medicine at Melbourne University and completed my GP training in the Macedon Ranges. A country girl at heart, I've lived and worked in this beautiful part of the world since 1999. I've also spent a great deal of time working with Aboriginal Medical Services in Katherine and the Victoria River regions in the Northern Territory.

In the quest to practise what I preach, I try to live a healthy and balanced life by spending time with my family, doing yoga, meditating, gardening, making mosaic and glass art, and singing in a local acapella group.

As of January 2023, I will be running a dedicated Menopause and Peri-Menopause Clinic on Monday afternoon/early evenings.
These appointments will be dedicated to women who need specialised help navigating the menopausal transition with an hour allocated for the first appointment and half an hour for reviews.
As of 2023 the only new patients I will be taking on will be Menopause/Perimenopause patients.
